Features

Built for media, not engagement.

Every feature exists to play your files better. Not to keep you scrolling.

Video player done right

Hold-to-scrub, brightness and volume gestures, picture-in-picture, zoom-to-fill, five aspect modes, in-video bookmarks.

Music that feels alive

Rotating album art, animated visualizer, synced lyrics (.lrc sidecar), queue editor, sleep timer.

Real 5-band equalizer

Built on Android's system audio chain. Bass boost, virtualizer, OEM-preset list, plus a louder-than-100% volume boost.

Library that survives file moves

Favorites, history, bookmarks tied to MediaStore IDs — not file paths. Rename a folder, lose nothing.

Playlists, queue, and reordering

Build playlists from any song. Drag to reorder the now-playing queue. Add to playlist from the player menu.

Direct-URL downloader

Paste a link to an MP4, MP3, or FLAC. Resumable, Wi-Fi-only option, files land in your standard Music/Movies folders.

Your data stays on your phone

No accounts. No server. No analytics SDK. No advertising SDK. Your library never leaves the device.

Background, lockscreen, Bluetooth

Music keeps playing across apps. Hardware play/pause buttons work. MediaSession ready for Android Auto.

External subtitles, your way

SRT, ASS, and VTT sidecar files alongside the video. Adjustable size and timing offset.

Picture-in-Picture

Float a video over any app. Real system PiP with aspect-ratio detection — not a bolted-on overlay.

Themes

Tap a theme. Watch it restyle.

Not a wallpaper. Buttons, cards, gradients, and accent colors change with one tap.

FAQ

Honest questions, honest answers.

Can it download from YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok?
No. The downloader takes direct media URLs — links that end in .mp4, .mp3, .webm, etc. YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter all rotate URLs and require login tokens. Building extractors for them would violate their Terms of Service and Google Play's policies. Any app that claims to do this either lies, breaks within weeks, or won't last on the Play Store.
Why $4.99 instead of free with ads?
Ads in a media player are the worst kind of ads — they interrupt what you came to do. We charge you once and never need your attention again. The $4.99 you pay is the entire business model.
What data does the app collect?
None. No analytics, no crash-reporting service, no advertising SDK, no account system. Your library, favorites, history, playlists, and settings live in app-private storage on your device. The only network traffic is the downloader fetching URLs you explicitly paste.
Chromecast and smart-TV casting?
Not in v1.0. Chromecast requires Google's Cast SDK, which adds ~3 MB and a dependency on Play Services. We're deciding whether to ship it built-in or as a separate “Cast” build to keep the core app lean. It's on the roadmap.
Will updates cost extra?
No. One-time purchase means one-time. Future v1.x and v2.x updates are free. If we ever do a major paid upgrade, it would be a separate app — not a paywall dropped into this one.
Which Android versions are supported?
Android 7.0 (Nougat) and newer — roughly 98% of active Android devices in 2026. Playback runs on Media3/ExoPlayer, which handles a wider range of codecs than the system MediaPlayer.
Refund policy?
Google Play has a 2-hour automatic refund window after purchase. After that, refund requests go through Google Play support. For genuinely defective behavior outside the 2-hour window, write to support@orbitmediaplayer.com within 14 days of purchase and we'll back the refund.
